The Government of Ghana has assure persons with disabilities in ghana of its readiness to retify to the united nations convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and to also pass into law the Ghana mental health bill to enable PWDs to enjoy total freedon and participate freely in the socio economic development of the Country.
The deputy minister of employment and Social Welfare Hon. Antwi Bosiako Sekyere gave the assurance when the DRF coalition Ghana paid a curtisy call on him on the National Diasability Day.
The Ghana Federation of the Disabled, the Network of Journalists For the Promotion of the Rghts of persons with Disabilities in Africa and MindFreedom Ghana on the 23rd June 2010 presented over one million signatures signed up by the good people of Ghana throughout the ten regions of Ghana in support of the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the rights of perssons with disabilities and the passage of the Ghana mental Heal bill to the Minister of Employment and social welfare and the speaker of Parliament.
The campaign was supported by the Disability Rights Fund. The delegation which was made up of OPWDs to parliament was led by the Executive Director of GFD Mrs. Rita Kyerema Kusi,
